A theatrical journey in five acts through the architecture of Romania’s seaside between 1955 and 1989 – an era of bold modernist dreams, meticulous planning, and youthful enthusiasm. The exhibition unfolds like a scenographic narrative: translucent curtains, suspended images, scale models, ambient seaside sounds, and echoes of Radio Vacanța.
Organized by the Romanian Cultural Institute in Warsaw, in collaboration with the Union of Architects of Romania and the Museum of Architecture in Wrocław, the show is curated by architect Maria Duda with exhibition design by Attila Kim. It is part of the Romania–Poland Cultural Season 2024–2025.
At fabricate, we contributed by building the entire exhibition furniture – slanted display tables, model platforms, and modular structures inspired by seaside hotel loggias, all crafted from pale birch plywood. Functional, poetic, and built like puzzles, these pieces pay tribute to the drafting boards and construction-site studios of the time.
